Travelling by train

Der Harz is well linked to the national railway system. The cities Ilsenburg, Halberstadt and Wernigerode can frequently be reached by using non-stop trains from/to the ICE- and IC-central train stations Halle (Saale) and Magdeburg. There are also connections from/to the ICE-train stations Göttingen and Hannover, having to change trains in Goslar, as well as connections from/to the ICE-train station Braunschweig, having to change trains in Vienenburg. Connecting trains to Blankenburg, Quedlinburg and Thale operate every hour from the central railway junction Halberstadt.

Please find more information on rail services in the destination Harz on www.hex-online.de („HarzElbeExpress“) as well as on www.hsb-wr.de (Harzer Schmalspurbahnen/Harz Narrow Gauge Railways). If you need information on timetables please visit www.insa.de.
